A policeman and his former girlfriend have been told they could be facing jail sentences after they were found guilty of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice.
A jury convicted Metropolitan PC Michael Turner, of Hawkes Road, Witham, and A&E nurse Nicola Howell at Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday following a two-week trial.
The pair will be sentenced at the court on November 9.
Judge David Turner QC granted them bail but warned: “That’s not to be taken as an indication that any other than an immediate prison sentence may be the case.”
The trial had heard how Turner, 44, was accused of conspiring with girlfriend Howell, 49, to help him avoid punishment for a drink-driving offence.
