NIGHTINGALE walks are being held every evening at a Colchester nature reserve.
A chorus of nightingales, alongside blackcaps, whitethroats, robins and song thrushes will be heard at the Fingringhoe Wick reserve.
The walks last from 7.30pm to 9pm and are running every day until May 13.
Matt Cole, Essex Wildlife Trust’s reserve warden, said: “Fingringhoe Wick is one of the best places in the UK to hear and see nightingales.
“The nature reserve has arguably the greatest concentration of territories. Numbers at the reserve continue to rise, bucking the national trend.
“Last year we had somewhere between 45 and 50 males singing, which equated to about 38-40 pairings on the reserve.
“One nightingale is an orchestra on its own, so just imagine how amazing it is to hear dozens of birds singing together at Fingringhoe.”
