BALACLAVA wearing raiders threatened shop workers with a hammer and a knife in a terrifying robbery.

The suspects entered the Tesco Express in St Christopher Road, Colchester, at 9.10pm on Tuesday armed with the weapons.

They threatened staff before leaving with an unknown amount of cash.

Fortunately, nobody was hurt.

Police have released CCTV images of the suspects and are asking for help to identify them.
The suspects have been described as wearing dark clothing and gloves – one wearing black and the other red.

One of the suspects has described as being in his 30s and wearing a grey top.

Det Sgt Stuart Knight, of Colchester CID, appealed for the public's help to trace the pair.

He said: “Masked men entered the store brandishing a hammer and a knife.

“They have then threatened staff and have forced them to open the till before fleeing. Fortunately no one was hurt but the shop assistants and customers experienced a frightening ordeal.

“We urged anyone with information to contact Colchester CID on 101 quoting incident 962 of 07/11 or Crimestopppers anonymously on 08000 555 111."
