A SENIOR detective says officers are doing everything possible to find a man who tied up a woman and threatened her with a knife in her own home.
A manhunt has been launched to find the suspect who broke into a house in Avon Way, Colchester, just after 4.15am on Monday.
After restraining and threatening the woman, he stole a debit card and withdrew a large amount of cash.
Det Insp Gary Biddle is leading the investigation.
He said: "This is a very serious incident on an innocent member of the public.
"Essex Police do not tolerate violent crime of any sort let alone on people in their own home.
"We are in the very early stages of our investigation but are doing everything we can in order to catch the person responsible and bring them to justice.
"If you saw anyone acting suspiciously or have any information please contact Clacton CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
