TURNER Prize-winning artist Jeremy Deller will be introducing his new documentary at Firstsite art gallery, in Colchester, this weekend.
Deller, winner of the prestigious prize in 2004, and the British representative at next year’s Venice Biennale, will present the Bruce Lacey Experience.
The new 73-minute film, directed by Deller and Nick Abrahams, provides an intimate portrait of Lacey, a unique visionary Norfolk-based artist. The film celebrates his life and work over the late 20th and early 21st century. Nathan Flatman, head of marketing at Firstsite, says: “The Bruce Lacey Experience truly captures the spirit of this visionary artist, a wild man who worked with the Beatles, Ken Russell and Spike Milligan.
“Famous for exploring performance art before such a thing existed, Lacey is now recognised as one of the leading lights within the British artistic landscape.”
