“PIRATE” radio is coming to Wivenhoe for two one-off shows.
Radio Wivenhoe has teamed up with Neil Watson, owner of the boat Los Amigos, to broadcast the charity programmes.
The vessel, moored at Wivenhoe Quay by the Rose and Crown pub, will be the venue for shows this Friday (August 17) and the following week (August 24), from 6pm to 10pm.
Former Radio NorthSea International and Radio Luxembourg DJ Mark Wesley will be helping present the first show along with Radio Wivenhoe’s Jerry Davis and Neil Watson.
Listeners can have requests and dedications played in return for a donation to the Wivenhoe Royal British Legion Club Building Fund.
The self-funded station is also holding an outside broadcast on Sunday to raise funds for its own running.
Regular DJs will broadcast from the Royal Fusilier pub in Aingers Green from 1pm along with comedy performances from the Wivenhoe Funny Farm and live music acts including Hurricane and Brainstorm Wednesday.
Listeners are invited to go down, take in the show and make a donation to help the self-funded radio station keep running
You can listen to the shows online at the Radio Wivenhoe website.
