LIFE saving equipment is being removed from Essex firestations as a back-up in the event of a strike.
Fire chiefs have confirmed the launch of Operation Gian to counteract potential industrial action.
Essex County Fire and Rescue Service (ECFRS) have refused to specify which equipment is being held back, but it is believed that cutting equipment is being removed from some appliances.
An Essex County Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson confirmed that Operation Gian had been activated as a precautionary measure to equip the county with life saving equipment in the result of a strike.
The Fire Brigades' Union has slammed the decision.
