All-rounder Ryan ten Doeschate has signed a new two-year contract with Essex that will keep him at the county until the end of the 2008 season.

The 26-year-old enjoyed a successful campaign in 2006, during which he scored his maiden Championship century - 102 not out against Glamorgan at Cardiff - and also had his most productive season with the ball, taking 25 Championship wickets at an average of 41.60.

In addition, the South African-born Holland international was a mainstay of the Essex Eagles side that won the NatWest Pro40 Division One title and reached finals day of the Twenty20 Cup.

ten Doeschate said: "I'm very pleased to have signed a new contract with Essex."
