Police are investigating after a bogus caller took a "large amount" of money from an elderly couple.
A man called at a house in Stalin Road, Colchester, at about 1.30pm on Friday, saying he needed to check the water supply to the house.
He went into the kitchen, bathroom and living room, and after he left, the couple noticed money was missing from their bedroom. Money was also taken from a wallet in the house.
