A shocking 50 per cent of off-licence stores sold alcohol to underage children in stings carried out in Colchester.
Police and trading standards sent undercover volunteers - obviously looking under 18 - into ten shops selling alcohol over the weekend to see if they were served. Half the stores failed the test.
The blitz was part of Operation Cougar Cub, launched on Friday by Essex Police to steer children away from crime.
