Years of rat-run misery are almost over for fed-up residents after highways chiefs agreed to block their road to motor vehicles.
People in Queen's Road, Wivenhoe, were sick of traffic squeezing down the narrow street, damaging cars and property.
The problem reached crisis point when trucks trying to reach the nearby shipyard redevelopment started using Queen's Road.
