Works to stop homes flooding in heavy rain are set to be carried out.
Rainwater flooded garages in lower Wivenhoe for the fourth time in a month this week as a drainage stream overflowed.
Now the Environment Agency has pledged to clear out the town drain which runs through Wivenhoe, to clear out silt and other obstacles.
A consultant is also being brought in within the next two weeks to find a solution to the problem - with work due to be carried out within nine months.
