Firefighters, a gutsy deputy mayor and a woman in a skimpy bikini were among daredevils conquering their fear of heights for charity.
Seventy adrenaline junkies abseiled 100ft down the front of Colchester town hall yesterday to raise cash for cancer nurses.
Nicky Hastler, of Marie Curie Cancer Care, said: "It's the first time we've done this in Colchester but it was so popular that we had to turn some people away."
She added: "We've raised about £10,000, which is phenomenal."
