PUPILS at a Colchester school raised more than £2,500 for charity by doing a workout.
In mid-March 112 girls from Colchester County High School completed a sponsored fitness class for international charity Lepra, based in the town.
They collected £2,800 from the event, bringing their total support over the past eight years to more than £12,700.
Lepra fundraiser Lesley Gill visited the school yesterday to present staff and pupils with a plaque as a thank you for their efforts.
She said: “The support of local people means we are able to do what we do, and there is so much to do. Thank you to all the pupils at the school for raising so much.”
Diana Calcutt, deputy headteacher of lower school said: “It costs around £25 for Lepra to ensure one more person with leprosy can access the care and support they need. We know that by supporting Lepra the money we raise is going to change the lives of some of the most marginalised people in the world.”
