I am disappointed that MP Douglas Carswell has voted in favour of new NHS Bill without waiting to see the risk register.

The Bill did not feature in any party manifesto or in the coalition agreement.

In fact, the Prime Minister himself promised that the NHS was safe in his hands.

The Government’s “listening exercise” was a sham – like most of the PM’s promises.

The legitimate concerns of the public and the vast majority of health experts were blatantly ignored.

The minor amendments accepted by the Government have done nothing to alter the nature of the Bill, which can only damage the quality of healthcare for the ordinary people around the UK by breaking up the NHS as we know it, reducing accountability and raising administration costs, allowing private patients to jump the queue for care while NHS patients face growing waiting lists, and intensifying postcode lotteries.

This I believe is the first step in the death of the NHS.

I have now lost all faith in politicians and may never vote again.
