Boozing could be banned on Clacton's town centre streets in a bid to cut assaults.
Figures released by police show nearly one in five wounding offences in Tendring take place in the town's Pier ward.
Police and Tendring Council hope to slash the number of offences by introducing an order to cover alcohol consumption in designated public places.
