Traffic bosses have been slammed for a catalogue of errors which have thrown a town into confusion.
Clacton is in the middle of a £2.7 million project which plans to make its centre safer and more attractive.
Traders, residents and councillors have called planners to task.
Essex County Council, which is running the highways part of the project, said it was on schedule and that disruption was worthwhile in the long term.
