Police are appealing for help after the worst wave of boat crime for ten years in West Mersea.
A total of 17 boats moored in Salcott Creek have been broken into, but thieves ignored expensive marine equipment to steal small amounts of cash and alcohol.
Thousands of pounds of damage was caused to the vessels, which were all targeted in the space of five days.
