Colchester commuters face delays

Commuters face major delays from Colchester as the winter weather hits services.

There is currently a 20 minute delay on London bound services due to a broken down train at Colchester North station.

The service has been hit with delays since 8am when signal problems at Manningtree caused the train from Colchester town station to London to be cancelled.

There are currently no services running between Colchester and Ipswich.

More to follow.

Our reporter took a trip on Abellio's first working day service since taking over from National Express East Anglia.

Full report, and commuter reaction, in tomorrow's Gazette.

I was pleasantly surprised at how well they were running this morning - I got the 8:37 which was a join of trains from ipswich and clacton and it was running with just under 10 minutes delay; I was half expecting them to all be cancelled so I was pleasantly shocked.

Wormshero, you were lucky. When I managed to get to Wivenhoe this morning (thanks to Essex highways not having gritted the MAIN B-road that connects the villages between Wivenhoe and Clacton) the 0724 was severely delayed. We then got turfed off at Stratford and the announcements were non existent and the signage confusing (how long to the Olympics ??). Dare I say it but National Express seemed to cope better in these sort of conditions.
