TWO mums hope to break into the computer games market with a new fitness console.

Becky King and Marie Tjunneland, both from Colchester, are marketing Buzz Box, which will go head to head with the Wii and Xbox.

The duo have been working with an inventor on the console for more than two years.

It has been invented by a Colchester man, who has asked to remain anonymous.

Buzz Box plugs into fitness equipment and a television or laptop computer. It measures excercise while allowing users to play games or experience virtual reality scenarios, such as running and cycling up hills.

For example, it can plug into an exercise bike in front of a television and simulate the user cycling up a mountain.

It is will be launched at the Stanway School on Wednesday.

Mrs King, 40, of Layer Road, said: “We can’t wait. There’s nothing else like this out there and we are introducing it into schools, residential homes and people can even buy it for at home.

“Marie and I met in the school playground through our children and we were asked by a friend if we wanted to market it.

“With the Wii you’re not using the proper muscle groups, you’re just moving around.

“With this you’re using proper fitness equipment.”
