A STUDENT urged witnesses to come forward after he was robbed after a Colchester fireworks display.

Jordan Durrant, 16, had been with friends at the popular Castle Park display and was walking home to Lethe Grove, Colchester, when he was attacked by two hooded muggers.

He said: “I was listening to my iPod, so did not hear them come up behind me. They tapped me on the shoulder, wanted what I had and took it.”

Mr Durrant, who is studying at Colchester Sixth Form College, hopes others may be willing to identify the men to stop anyone else falling victim.

It was the second attack on a teenager in the area.

Mr Durrant said: “This has shocked me. I often walk around here and never expected anything like this.

“They knocked me about and now I am more wary about going out.” The teenager was attacked at about 9.15pm on Saturday, November 5, in the alley between Berechurch Road and Monkwick Avenue and near the allotments.

The thugs punched him, splitting his lip, and stole his iPod and Blackberry mobile .

Both are white. One is about 5ft 11in tall and of medium to stocky build. The second is between 5ft 6in and 5ft 10in tall and wore a dark-coloured hoody and padded-style body warmer.

Mr Durrant said: “After the attack, I found someone at the other end of the alley whom I knew and used their phone to call my parents, who rang police. My parents were shocked, but the police were fantastic and came straight away.

“If you saw anything, come forward. If these people are still out there, they could do it to anybody, like a little old lady.”

Less than a month ago another teenager was attacked near the allotments.

Jordan Lawson, 14, was hit with a lump of wood in Mersea Road at about 9.30pm on Friday, October 14. He was left bloodied and bruised and with a damaged arm.

Anyone with information about the attacks should call Det Con Jennings, at Colchester CID, on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
