A gardener is fighting for his life after he was stung by wasps in Colchester. David Tull, 52, of Castle Road, was gardening at a home in Alton Drive, Lexden when he was stung by a swarm of wasps and fell into anaphylatic shock.

Also...Jackie Bower, a midwife at the Fryatt Hospital in Dovercourt, has donated one of her kidneys to younger brother Paul Lyons. Paul, 44, was born with one kidney and faced a life on dialysis when his condition deteriorated.
- Staff at Colchester General Hospital were among the most complained about in the country, according to latest figures. Julia Firth, director of nursing and patient experience, said the figures equated to fewer than one complaint every two days - and the hostpial has received 18,000 compliments in the past year.
- Colchester Council has announced it could hold meetings at the town's Firstsite art gallery. The authority is considering renting out parts of the town hall, which could pave the way for a move to the £28million gallery, Weston Homes Community Stadium or Angel Court.
