I am writing with reference to articles about travellers in the Gazette, June 14.
Just who do these people think they are, warning Colchester Council they will continue to set up illegal sites until they are given a proper site of their own?
Do they see themselves as something special, something we should all be grateful to have in our community?
I think not.
If they saw themselves as the rest of society saw them, they might change their living habits, but they seem to enjoy being social pariahs.
Freddie Loveridge, a spokesman for a group removed from a site in Great Notley, stated they were just trying to bring up their children as they themselves were raised. God help us, another generation!
When will the Government change the law so these actions taken by the travelling community are considered criminal, so allowing police to move them on as soon as they try to set up camp.
