A woman was raped after giving a man a lift home from a night club.
The woman, in her fifties, was attacked in Fairfield Road, Clacton today at about 2am.
She had earlier been to the Geisha nightclub in Marine Parade, Clacton where she met a man.
She offered to give him a lift home but when the car stopped in Fairfield Road the man attacked her.
Detectives have appealed for anyone who saw the two together in the Geisha or has any information about the events in Fairfield Road to come forward.
They would particularly want to speak to a woman, aged 20 to 30, slim and using a mobile phone, who was in Fairfield Road and may have disturbed the man.
They would also like to speak to two women, both well dressed, aged about 50 and with blond hair, who came out of Ronnie's Bar in Old Road.
They spoke to the victim spoke and waited with her until her son arrived.
The woman is being interviewed by specialist officers to obtain a full account of what took place.
