I take it Norman Hume does not live in Colchester, judging by his comments about road congestion and his attack on Bob Russell (Gazette, May 11).

I am happy county councillor Hume has stepped down, as it was on his watch we endured the worst traffic Colchester has ever seen, the worst potholes and the worst gritting after bad weather – and still his party seek to build thousands of homes around a woefully poor road network.

Instead of stating Bob Russell needs “sorting out”, Mr Hume should be sorting out Colchester’s road mess.

The reason Bob Russell stays in power and is popular is that he actively seeks improvements for Colchester.

I write this letter having spent 55 minutes getting from Wivenhoe to North Station in the rush hour.

Enough said and goodbye Mr Hume!
