DECISIONS on more than 40 major issues are expected to be made by Essex County Council by the end of the month.

The council is due to decide on the closing and moving of schools, development of waterfronts, road improvements and the opening of new council offices, among others, by Tuesday, November 30.

The council is hoping to be able to confirm new service and financial agreements with the major NHS health providers in South and North Essex.

There is a decision due on the amalgamation and relocation of the Edith Borthwick School in Bocking near Braintree.

Essex County Council is also set to approve plans for a new council office in Basildon.

There should be an agreement between the council and the fire service about what will happen in the event of a large scale emergency by the end of the month.

Essex Fire and Rescue Service has agreed to take the lead role on from Essex County Council in the event of an emergency.

The council is also considering road improvements in Rayleigh, Chelmsford, Frinton and at the Harwich quayside as well as deciding what will happen to the Heybridge Highway Depot.
