FRUIT fans got a chance to munch their way through more than 30 varieties of apple at a farm festival.

A two-day apple extravaganza was held at Park Fruit Farm, in Great Holland.

The annual event, which promotes national apple day and supports local producers, showcased many natural products, including pears and freshly-pressed apple juice.

There were also stalls selling pork, rapeseed oil, jams and chutneys.

Josie Rogers, who runs the farm shop, said: “It went very well and was extremely popular.

“We had a slow start with the rain, but once it had cleared, the crowds appeared. Everyone has really enjoyed it.

“Everything people sampled here is made in the region and it’s healthy eating as well.”

The farm, in Pork Lane, grows more than 50 varieties of fruit, including apples, plums, damsons, raspberries and blackberries.

It was started in 1936 by the late Norman Elsworth, and is now run by his grandson, Stephen.
