I read in the Gazette (October 20) work is about to start on a new junction on Clingoe Hill, for the benefit of Essex University’s Knowledge Gateway.
These roadworks, and the junction itself, will cause even more delays for drivers coming from and to the Elmstead, Wivenhoe and Brightlingsea areas.
Is it really necessary?
Why can the existing Elmstead Road not be used?
Elmstead Road leads on to the Tesco roundabout and is on a regular bus route.
In the other direction, the university’s own “private”
road could be used, leading to Colchester Road.
Surely this would save a lot of money for the university/ developer, and disruption to local residents.
