Blaze at derelict factory site
2:58pm Sunday 17th October 2010 in News By James Dwan
AN investigation has been launched into a suspected arson attack at a derelict factory in Brantham.
Six fire engines were called to former Wardle Storeys building in Factory Lane at about 7.25pm on Saturday.
On arrival crews from Manningtree, Holbrook, Hadleigh, Woodbridge and Ipswich, discovered the derelict factory – measuring 35m by 65m - was “well alight”.
Suffolk County Fire and Rescue Service said the blaze was thought to be suspicious and that police were also in attendance.
Crews, who were using four 45mm jets, extinguished by 9.20pm.
The factor closed in February 2007 and parts have since fallen into disrepair.
