MEET Lady Go Go – the Colchester singer and songwriter who loves to Just Dance.

Catherine Winter has become an impersonator of American pop star Lady Ga Ga after years gigging in bands, singing on cruise ships and travelling the world performing for holiday and hotel chains.

The jazz singer, who earned her music degree at Colchester Institute, was sacked by her hotel chain employees when they found out she was taking secret choreography classes with a dancer pal.

However, the sacking has proved a blessing in disguise for the ambitious singer, who has now launched her new career imitating the eccentric dresser and current queen of the music charts.

Catherine said: “When I was singing on cruise ships and hotels I had people tell me I sounded like Lady Ga Ga, and I’m so glad I decided to take this up properly.

“I have a gay following and a few club appearances coming up, and my mum and dad are so proud.

“I’ve already had people ask me for my autograph.”

Known as Lady Go Go, Catherine can sing and perform all the fashion icon’s most popular songs, including Poker Face, Bad Romance and Telephone. Catherine’s stage outfits include a copy of the stars and stripes bikini the singer wore in her music video for Telephone alongside Beyonce.

The Colchester-born singer also has peroxide blonde hair and copies the singer’s elaborate hairstyles, including using drink cans for hair rollers.

The 32-year-old, who went to Myland Primary School and Gilberd School, said she loves imitating the eccentric singer.

But one outfit the soul singer won’t be copying is Lady Ga Ga’s most recent creation, an outfit made entirely of meat.

Catherine said: “I’m a vegetarian!”
