AS heard on television. That’s the music of Colchester synth pop band Angry Vs the Bear.

The four-piece band from Colchester, made up of Mitzi Fox, Patrick Monahan, Darren Parker and Ross Farley, stormed last year’s South By Southwest music conference in Texas, with a blow-away showcase set which saw people queuing to get in.

They achieved a similar reaction at this year’s festival just after the release of single, Show Emotion, in March.

Produced by Simon Gogerly, who has worked with the likes of U2 and Gwen Stefani, the single was Huw Stephens’ Pick of the Week on Radio One and has now been picked up to promote a shopping centre in Norwich.

Mitzi says: “I definitely don’t think we are selling out. We’re not getting a fortune for it, and we see it as another good way of getting our music out there.”

Their latest single, Kill Me With Words And Pictures, was released on Monday.

The band continue touring in October, with dates in Chelmsford, at the Barhouse this weekend, and Chinnerys in Southend on October 31.
