The Gazette report on the Tour of Britain cycle race stated some High Street traders had reported a loss of business on the day.
Knowing that I could not get the bus right into the High Street, I postponed my usual Friday shopping until the next day.
I came into town to see the race, but only bought a coffee on that day.
The town did not lose my business, it just got it on a different day.
I cannot be the only person to have done this.
Traders should realise that less trade at a particular time is not necessarily a net loss.
