A YOUNG film maker will see his work on the silver screen at a national event.

Joe Lichtenstein’s creation, From Court 15, was chosen out of hundreds of entries from across the UK to be included in the Co-operative Film Festival.

It is based on work experience placements he spent shadowing a barrister dealing with immigration cases in London when he was 16.

Mr Lichtenstein said: “I was so moved by the things I saw and hearing the experiences those people have been through, their lack of control over their situation.”

He documented his feelings about the placement through a series of 1,400 drawings which run together in a two-and-a-half minute film.

The drawings took Mr Lichtenstein, from Valonia Drive, Wivenhoe, two-and-a-half years to make.

“I can’t wait for it to be shown and to see how people react to it,” added the 19-year-old.

“My film-making is quite solitary because I’m working alone in my room, so it’s always a little bit strange when other people watch it. I’m pleased to have this opportunity.”

Mr Lichtenstein is doing Art Foundation at Colchester Institute and afterwards wants to study fine art.

From Court 15 will be shown at The Co-operative Film Festival, which specifically showcases young people’s work, in Bradford on October 7 and 8.
