I am writing in response to the proposal for Essex and Kent to work more closely together (Gazette, September 7).

I suppose anything that cuts down administration costs, and eliminates queues at the Dartford crossing, must be good – though not perhaps for the resultant unemployed.

But will it stop there?

There is ample evidence (for those who look) of the existence of the Arc Manche Assembly, an underhand and secretive stunt by which the EU, aided and abetted by traitors in our own Parliament, will try to join our two counties to parts of France.

And if this does come about, no prizes for guessing who will be in charge.

Let us make sure this further step never takes place.
