AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a tent was destroyed in a fire.
Firefighters were called to the canvas home off Clear Road, Layer Marney, at about 10.45pm last night.
On arrival they discovered the tent was completely alight.
The tent had been being used as somewhere to live, and the owners were on site but uninjured.
A joint investigation into the fire has now been launched by Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and Essex Police.
Anyone with information about the fire is urged to contact officers at Colchester police station on 0300 333 4444.
