REPORTS looking into how seven people being treated for mental illness in north Essex became killers have finally been released – more than four years after their crimes.

The individuals were all receiving care, but went on to stab, strangle and batter their victims.

Health bosses say the reports have proved “crimes were not predictable or foreseeable”, but a mental health charity has condemned delays in producing the reports, saying “opportunities will have been lost to prevent unnecessary suffering for patients, families and the public”.
