LINDA Hudson should be celebrating her 25th wedding anniversary this weekend, but instead she is arranging her husband’s funeral.

The 51-year-old mother-of-two, from Wivenhoe, was left devastated after her husband, Glenn, fell 50 metres to his death while parasailing with his daughter, Emma, 25, on holiday in Turkey.

His safety harness had snapped.

After the tragedy, on July 24, the family remained in the country for another two days.

Mrs Hudson said she was desperate to get home, but couldn’t bear to leave her husband’s body, which was in the care of the Turkish authorities.

She added: “It was horrendous. It was extremely hard to leave Turkey, knowing we were leaving Glenn behind, but I knew we needed to be with the rest of our family.

“Being there wasn’t helping us and I knew we needed to get home.

“For a while I think the children blamed me for leaving him. They kept saying I had left dad, but there was nothing more we could do. It is only now we have been able to make arrangements for his funeral.”

The family arrived home on July 26, but it took a further ten days for 50-year-old Mr Hudson’s body to be flown back to the UK.

Mrs Hudson said: “The worst thing is we haven’t been able to see him and say goodbye properly because of the condition of the body.

“I feel we have been robbed of that and I think they would have taken better care of his body in the UK than they did over there.”

Mrs Hudson has vowed to put an end to similar accidents abroad. She said she wants the parasailing operators in charge of her husband’s trip to be jailed.

She added: “There are accidents similar to Glenn’s happening all the time. I don’t want people to forget what happened and make the same mistake we did.”

Mrs Hudson has a legal team working for her, which she hopes will bring the operators to justice.

Mr Hudson’s funeral is at 12.30pm on Friday at Colchester Crematorium, followed by a reception at Greenstead Social Club. Mrs Hudson said the funeral was open to anyone.
