THE A120 has been closed following a rush hour crash.

Fire crews worked to release an elderly woman trapped following the crash near Coggeshall, shortly after 5pm.

They managed to free the casualty using specialist cutting equipment, airbags and a winch by 6.18pm.

Essex Fire & Rescue spokesman Scott Morrow said the vehicle was in a precarious position, hampering attempts to rescue the casualty.

Police and ambulance crews are also on the scene, and have closed the road in both directions.

Traffic is stretching back in both directions, including towards the A12 at Marks Tey and towards Coggeshall in the opposite direction.
