PAEDOPHILE Graham White was employed as a taxi driver taking children to schools in Colchester and Chelmsford, it has been revealed.

The 53-year-old worked for a firm that had a contract with Essex County Council’s social services department.

Chelmsford-based Allied Radio Cars would not discuss White’s employment or say when he stopped working for the firm.

At Basildon Crown Court on Monday, White admitted 20 counts of raping and assaulting young children over a period of almost 30 years.

White, of Crocus Way, Chelmsford, denied a further five charges, including attempted rape and the indecent assault of a boy, and these have been ordered to lie on file.

An additional two charges relating to the sexual assault of another boy have been stayed. White denies these charges and they may be taken further by prosecutors at a later date.

The earliest incident among the charges was in May 1971. The most recent occurred between 1997 and 1999.

White was arrested in 2007 for the attempted rape of a 15-year-old boy. He had previously been arrested twice over the past two decades for indecent assault on young boys. No charges were ever brought.

Despite the arrests, White continued his job as a taxi driver. It is unclear when his contract was terminated.

An Essex County Council spokesman said: “Mr White has never been employed directly by the council.”

Almost four decades after suffering at the hands of her brother White, the abuse still plagues Alison Chester.

She had the horrific task of questioning her two sons and two daughters to find out whether their uncle had turned on them. He had not.

But the sexual assault she suffered has had a lasting effect on her life.

She said: “I’ve been on anti-depressants on and off for years. After my dad died, Graham was like my dad.

“But looking back now, I know it was guilt for what he had done.

“Now all I have is my partner Terry and my children. I couldn’t have done this without Terry, but it must be hard to be with a woman who you know has been sexually abused.

“It has hugely affected my life and how I think. I have to live with what he did forever.”

Ms Chester’s three other brothers live in Southend, Norfolk and Turkey and she rarely speaks to them.

She said they were not surprised when she told them what their brother had done.

Her biggest regret is her parents never knew about the abuse.
