Once again, controversy
is surrounding a traveller site proposal.

The problem will not go away and is bound to escalate.

Isn’t it time to take the bull by the horns and make an all-out effort to ease the problem?

The old chestnut has come up once again about no taxes being paid. This is probably true in most cases but surely it’s obvious that once a permanent address is found, it won’t be long before the taxman will do his worst, and they will all be party to taxes we pay.

Nothing is gained by stopping the youngsters having an education which is the desire of most traveller families. This again depends on permanent residence.

By paying council tax, they will be entitled to regular rubbish removal. And when you have a place of your own, you are more likely to keep it tidy, but the sites must be in pleasant surroundings, not stuck away in areas no one else would be likely to choose to live.

So think again, those who oppose sites. By doing this you are actually shooting yourselves in the foot.
