A supermarket chef plans to fast for four days while locked inside a tent in a David Blaine-style stunt to raise money for charity.
Andrew Tierney, of Turner Rise, Colchester, will remain inside the tent with just basic supplies and bottles of water from Friday lunchtime to Monday lunchtime.
The 37-year-old will carry out the stunt in his small tent on the staff patio at Sainsbury's store, Tollgate, where he works as a chef in the canteen for staff. He hopes to raise £500 for his friend Michael Henniker who is trying to get sponsorship of £2,600 to walk the Inca Trail in Peru in April for the charity Whizz Kidz.
