Job Title: Sports Reporter/Sub-editor
Department: Editorial
Responsible to: Sports Editor


Main Objectives:

* To write material for the Echo's sports pages. The principal responsibility is providing coverage of non-league football, but will also embrace writing about a range of other sports as required.
* To layout and sub-edit sports pages for the Echo and its sister titles as required.

Job Requirements:

 * The jobholder will be expected to develop and maintain an excellent set of contacts in the sporting community.
* He/She will handle contributed material as required, including detailed results and tables.
* The jobholder will also carry out other duties as required, including working on weekly paper sports pages as required.
* He/She is expected to have a professional and flexible approach to his/her work.

Key areas in addition to those outlined in the job description:

* The Echo publishes three daily editions and aims to provide comprehensive coverage of sport in south Essex. The sports desk also subs pages for the Echo's sister publications the Daily Gazette, the Thurrock Gazette and the Basildon Recorder.
