Controversial plans to increase the number of taxis in Colchester have been given the green light.
Cab firms say there isn't enough trade for another 18 taxis in the town and a study recommending an increase in taxi numbers is out of date.
Colchester Council licensing officer Simon Harvey said driver opposition to the proposals was overwhelming, but the council's hands were tied by the survey findings.
