CARDS and donations have been “pouring in” in memory of a teenager killed in a tragic car crash.

Snoopies dog grooming salon has set up a memorial fund for 18-year-old staff member Abbie Krinks, who died in a crash on the A133 on Thursday, the day after she qualified as a dog groomer.

Geoff Miles, a director at the salon in Little Bentley, said: “Cards and donations from clients have been pouring in right, left and centre.

“Everybody is saying what a lovely girl she was, with a lovely smile.”

Mr Miles said they would not choose a charity to support in Abbie’s name without discussion with her family, but he suggested an animal charity might be appropriate, and said they were also considering a plaque at the salon.

He said: “We want to make sure there is a constant reminder here.”

Abbie, of Thorrington, first joined the salon on work experience aged 15, and got on so well there, she was invited back and later became the salon’s first full-time employee.

Mr Miles said: “We have seen her grow up”.

He said that her loss left “a massive void” for her former colleagues.

Nardeep Sharma, principal at Abbie’s secondary school, the Colne Community School and College, also paid tribute, saying teachers had been shocked by the “devastating news” of her death.

She said: “It is with great sadness that we heard of the tragic and untimely death of our former student, Abbie Krinks.

“Abbie is remembered with great fondness by her teachers as a gentle, kind, and thoughtful girl.

“She was a conscientious student who thrived on praise.

“Very emotionally intelligent, Abbie was always very sensitive to the needs of others and a good team player.

“Abbie was a delight to teach and a truly delightful person.

“Our thoughts are with her family and friends at this very difficult time.”

Police are continuing to investigate the crash, but it is likely to be weeks before they can announce any new information.
