A man has been charged with attempted murder following an incident in Colchester.
Detectives questioned a 43-year-old man after a 56-year-old man suffered serious injuries at Walter Porter Court in Hazelton Road, Parson's Heath, Colchester, at 6.35pm on Saturday.
An Essex Police spokesman said the victim, who lived in Colchester, had sustained a wound to his cheek and an artery in his neck had been punctured.
A man from the Colchester area was arrested at 9pm on Saturday. He has since been charged and was due to appear before magistrates today.
