WOMEN can once again give birth in Colchester General Hospital's maternity unit after it was closed for two days.
An unexplained power surge in Colchester General Hospital's Special Care baby Unit on Tuesday led to the decision to suspend admission altogether.
A total of 15 women had to change their plans and give birth elsewhere during that time, including at Clacton and Harwich.
The neonatal unit re-opened at 3pm this afternoon.
