POST Office staff were threatened with a handgun in Capel St Mary.
Police are appealing for witnesses to the attempted robbery at about 11.15am on Friday [30/4].
A man walked into the post office in The Street with a handgun, but did not steal anything.
He was described as 6ft 3ins tall, of stocky build and wore sunglasses and a green anorak with the hood up. He left on foot, in the direction of Links Road.
Police searched the area, with help from the air support unit.
