A MAN was killed after he refused to reveal his bank card details, a murder trial jury has been told.

Graham Reeve was bundled into his Colchester flat by two men and a woman.

Later on, there was a series of attempts to withdraw money from his account and hundreds of pounds worth of alcohol, cigarettes and food were delivered to his home.

Chelmsford Crown Court yesterday heard the 55-year-year-old was murdered in the early hours of July 5 last year.

“He was kidnapped and held hostage in his own home and intimidated to get his pin number,” Patricia Lynch QC, prosecuting, told the court.

A rope or a cord was used to strangle Mr Reeve, the jury was told.

Two men and a woman deny murdering him at his home in Charles Pell Road, on the Greenstead estate, between July 4 and 7 last year.

Miss Lynch said Trisha Levett, 28, Danny Howsego, 36, and Jon Williams, 22, were responsible for the murder of Mr Reeve.

The three, who were living in another flat in Stanley Wooster Way at the time of the killing, all deny a charge of murder.

Levett and Howsego have denied another charge of robbing Mr Reeve of a bank card. Williams has admitted the charge.

Miss Lynch said: “They kidnapped him and held him hostage in his own home and took his card and intimidated him to get his pin.

“It was a joint enterprise. They were all acting together in a criminal course of conduct.”

She also alleged Howsego and Williams were “almost certainly responsible for the violence and intimidation as they held Mr Reeve in his own flat”.

The trial continues.
