I am writing regarding the letter (Gazette, April 13) concerning antisocial behaviour in a block of flats in Colchester.

I have lived in this block for five years now and never had problems in the past regarding other residents, until last March when a family moved in.

From the very onset of their tenancy, this particular family have made myself and all other residents’ lives in the block an absolute nightmare.

We have all been verbally threatened, and that includes a family with two boys of two and eight months.

We have been persistently mentally and verbally abused on a daily basis for 12 months, yet the council has done very little to sort the problem out.

Myself and the other victims have had several meetings with Bob Russell and our local councillor Dave Harris to try to push the council for action and they have been very helpful in supporting us, but, as landlords, Colchester Borough Homes has not pushed the issue far enough.

This is a classic case of neglect towards the victims and support to the perpetrators.

It appears the only way the council is going to act quicker on this matter is if one of us gets stabbed.

The whole situation is a farce and a shambles and should have been dealt with months ago.

Colchester Borough Homes has a great deal of learning to do regarding its tenants.
