AN investigation is to be carried out after clothes hanging up in a communal area were set on fire.
One fire crew was sent to a block of flats in Hawthorn Avenue, Greenstead, at 7pm, to put out the blaze.
One resident was alerted to the fire by his smoke alarm and managed to escape.
A joint police and fire investigation is now taking place.
